What We Do To Help You Live and Love Your Active Life

Chiropractic

Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic uses adjustment techniques taught by the Motion Palpation Institute (MPI). Motion palpation is used in the spine and extremities as a diagnostic tool for joint dysfunction. Joints can become restricted because of injury, poor posture, or faulty movement patterns.

The “popping” heard during a chiropractic manipulation is the result of the release of gas and a quick change in pressure gradient around the joint when the joint is gapped.

Chiropractic manipulation may be the primary treatment option or a supplement to other treatment options.

Manual Therapy

Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic uses this advanced technique by appling pressure to the soft tissue, guiding muscle fibers along the correct pathway respecting muscular and joint anatomy.

Myofascial release is an excellent addition to chiropractic manipulations. While the adjustment will address the dysfunction of the joint, the myofascial release will address shortening of soft tissues (muscles).

If your pain or loss of range of motion is due to muscle tightness or fascial shortening, the myofascial release therapies may be very beneficial for you.

Rehabilitation

Our goal is to teach our patients functional rehabiliation exercises. At Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic, functional rehabilitation consists of a variety of corrective and performance exercises with the goal of improving your movement and function in everyday living. Exercises are custom-tailored based upon the findings of your movement screen.

The body does a great job of picking up the slack for muscles that aren't doing their job. This leads to overuse of certain muscles. This is called altered motor control and can be due to many factors including frequent sitting, sedentary lifestyle, poor postural habits and previous injury. These rehabilitation exercises are designed to curb altered motor control by stimulating the inhibited muscles helping with sport and everyday activities, in order to improve performance and decrease the chance of injury.

Dry Needling

Similar to acupuncture, dry needling uses very small needles placed at local trigger or tender points to alleviate pain. The needles are then manipulated in a specific way to help relax the muscle and alleviate the trigger point.

Dry needling is great for musculoskeletal problems and can often produce immediate relief. Ridding a muscle of trigger points not only decreases pain, but restores proper mobility and function to the affected muscle.

Baseline Concussion Testing

Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic provides baseline concussion via Sway Medical. Sway tests the patient's balance and reaction times. By having a baseline, we can easily detect any changes due to an injury, and then reassess the patient to see when they are back to their normal balance and reaction time.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years to help a large variety of disorders. Through specific needle placement, we can modify the flow of "qi" throughout the body to promote proper health and healing. We use very small needles for this relaxing and essentially painless procedure. We use acupuncture for local pain as well as conditions like anxiety, stress relief, menstrual regulation, and sleep disorders.

Kinesiology Taping

At Impact Sports Rehab and Chiropractic, Rocktape is used to decrease pain and swelling. It is also used during the rehabilitation process to improve quality of movements and delay muscle fatigue. Rocktape is a great accessory to help us jump start your healing process.

NormaTec Recovery

NormaTec compression therapy is used to:

- Speed Lactate Clearance
- Reduce Soreness
- Improve Range of Motion
- Increase FMD systematically– (arterial dilation and an indicator of vascular function)
